VBS oh7 Avalanche Ranch.... Yee-haw!

third year hmmmm....
vbs this year has no doubt been amazing
for me personally i feel like i learned a lot
i didn't experience one of those spiritual highs
but rather more of a spiritual enlightening (?) i don't really kno if that is the word to use
i have just learned so much, gained so much experience, matured
on another note... running was easier this year, i guess i'm getting used to it
punishments were ok... it was almost like they super zoned in on our thighs/legs, with duck walks and people sits and lunges and running right after duck walks
walk DOWN the stairs were killer

in the middle of training week, mrs. hwuang called me and assigned me to do chadder's theater alongside bible station i was already assigned to
i first thought, ok no big deal, i'm just helping out two stations
turns out derek and jerry, derek in particular didn't help that much so i ended up the station leader of chadder's
the kids loved me but i lost my voice at the end of the day every day

vbs week was a blessing
the kids were awesome
the interesting thing about preschoolers is that like two kids in each class know all the answers and nobody else does
like take for example joanna
she raised her hand for every single of my questions and she knew all the answers
she knew all the points, the stories,  was the first to memorize the verse
when i tried calling on different people, they wouldn't know and joanna would end up telling them the answer
and you can't underestimate their intelligence
like while i was talking to this one kid he actually said
"hey, i'm not stupid"
(daniel)
and jacob, who i think is four said
"look outside, it's such a gloomy day"
he's four and knows the word gloomy =]

God is
real
with us
strong
awesome
in charge
YEE-HAW!

can't wait for vbs 08
POWER LAB (science theme) (it's gonna be so cool =)

ps: i just realized
i haven't updated in months

Buehler Challenger and Science Center FIELD TRIP

wow, haven't updated in a looong long time
check out the videos to the right ----------------->
anywayz
monday
trip to the center listed above in the the title
space simulation called "VOYAGE TO MARS"
ooh, fancy
ummmm
it was fun
basically it was just team a starting out in mars control
and team b starting on the mars transport vehicle, mtv
the mtv leaves from earth, gets to mars, mars control ( who have been on mars for two years) get on the mtv and go back to earth
pretty cool
i was on data team
and "maintained the data link between mars control and the mtv" basically just sent emails back and forth between the two different locations and sent/delivered them to the different teams, boring at times, fun at times
probe team was cool
they got their own special room and they built something
isolation would've been ok too
they did a bunch of experiments with robotics arms and "hazardous materials"
mission was maybe two/ 1.5 hours
gift shop after
their gift shop was a wall... seriously
fun =)

edit: for the videos -------------->
you can only see them if you have firefox

GEPAs

are over!
much easier than i thought
and NO HW =)
Day 1~ Science
ummm... ok
it was more if you know, you know it
if you don't.... better hope you're lucky
some of them were you could try to figure out... but you don't know if you figured out rite... if that makes sense
but not that hard
omg... some stupid kid (ryan dill...) got every single open-ended question completely wrong
the one question about designing an experiment about how objects move differently on different surfaces (ex: a ball rolling on glass as opposed to a  ball rolling on felt or grass)
he wrote throw a cinder block and brick into the air... and see which breaks the most
yeah... everyone seriously hates him
another one... he left completely blank because he "didn't know the answer"
w/e...
Day 2~ Math
OMG
this was the easiest math ever
the hardest question was determining if an equation was linear...
it was easier than 6th grade terra novas...
i finished the multiple choice in five minutes and had 25 minutes to do open ended...
which i finished in ten minutes =P
Day 3~ L.A. Part 1
ummmm
two pic prompts
one reading passage
weirest pics ever
the first one was of a toddler walking down this hallway decorated christmas
second... a random astronaut in an armchair in the middle of the desert with some photographer taking a picture of him
ummmm... i guess i did ok
Day 4~ L.A. Part 2
one persuasive essay
one reading passage
two complete QUALITY pages for the essay =P
bet i got a 6 ;)

anywayz... the notorious GEPAs which teachers were so worried about
are over...
dont even know why  we spent four months in l.a. doing gepa prep for...
psh
teachers these days

30 Hour Famine

i'm finally done
30 hours:
official start friday, 12 noon
official end saturday, 6 pm

technically, i really went like 36 hours
since i didn't eat after breakfast, which was like 8?
and didn't eat dinner today till 8?
i gave up once a week pizza lunch on friday... and our school's pizza is REALLY good
i was STARVING
well... maybe just hungry
but to think that millions and millions of children around the world experience this on a DAY-TO-DAY basis
it's just like WOW, it's such an eye-opening experience
we take all the food that we have for granted
i mean just lying around the house, there's SO MUCH FOOD IN OUR HOUSE
there's this HUGE plastic jar of cheese balls in the family room
im serious... they were calling out to me
and then for 3 hours on friday... ethan TORTURED ME
he walked up to me and put like bags of food in front of my face
and held it there
and then he makes it worse by saying
"no one will notice. no one's going to know you ate this one cracker. i won't tell."
over and over and over again
trust me... you do not EVER want to live with ethan as a brother
he knew i had to do 30 hour famine and it was for yg... and he will find anyway possible to make it miserable for you
and nothing works
if you ignore him... he only does it more
if you tell him to stop... he just does his little giggle and continues
if you threaten him... he runs down the stairs and tells my parents... and then i get in trouble
he can do a n y t h i n g he wants to me
and he is a VIOLENT type
and i can't fight back... or else i get in trouble
not even a little bit... like i can't gently push him away
or he becomes mr. drama queen and says that it "hurt so much" and he "can't move his arm" or whatever else he makes up... and then i get in trouble
well enough rambling about ethan
anywayz
30 hr famine was really cool
def doing it next year =)

life

so today
i went over to my grandma and grandpa's apartment
in the elevator, there was this old guy taking in his laundry
he said he from russia and started talking to my dad
then he noticed us and said, "two miracles, eh?"
life really is a miracle, isn't it?
